Gay L. Gibson, LCSW

Gay comes to Figtree with 22 years of experience. She graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998, and has worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2001. Gay has extensive experience working with adults and families living with depression, substance abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and anxiety disorders. Gay’s experience and training has created a holistic and eclectic healing approach to therapy which focuses on client needs, recognizes the unique impact trauma has on the brain and body, and helps clients gain insight and relief from various lived experiences. Gay is also a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner. Her work with EMDR further grounds her practice and person centered approach. It is Gay’s belief that people are the change agents in their own lives. She views her role as serving as a support to them in their healing process, helping them to move through past wounds, and feel stronger about their present and future actions and choices. Gay also provides clinician supervision for licensure for both individuals and groups.
