Nate's head shot

Nate Tafao, Graduate Intern

Nate is currently completing his internship with Fig Tree as a part of his Masters of
Social Work program from Liberty University. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at California Baptist University. His journey from teacher to soldier to therapist-in-training begins and ends with a passion for helping people navigate difficult circumstances. Nate is on the brink of completing a career in the U.S.
Army, where he has mentored, counseled, and coached soldiers for nearly two decades as a leader. He is a certified Master Resilience Trainer (MRT) in the Army, training soldiers on tools and techniques to strengthen resiliency and reduce post-traumatic stress symptoms, depression symptoms, and sleep problems.

He believes that providing a space for a person to express themselves freely is the
foundation on which work can be accomplished. You can expect a calm and relaxed session, but please come prepared to work. Nate understands that work and progress will look different for every person. The journey, long or short, is the necessary part toget to the destination.

Nate looks forward to working with those who are open to various modalities of
treatment, including a person-centered approach, strengths-based, CBT, MRT
techniques, and polyvagal theory.
In his spare time, Nate enjoys sharing a meal with friends, playing and watching sports, board and card games, and an evening on the couch with family, popcorn, and a clever movie.
