Alexis Rae, M.A., Resident in Counseling

Alexis Rae is a Resident in Counseling at Fig Tree Therapy who offers compassionate, client-centered counseling for children, adolescents, and adults in Richmond, Virginia. She serves clients in both individual and group counseling settings, helping them work through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns. Alexis believes every person has the capacity for growth and change, and she is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood.
Alexis received her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Her clinical experience includes both outpatient private practice and residential care, where she has supported children with emotional and behavioral challenges as well as adults navigating serious mental illness. Her diverse background helps her meet clients with empathy, flexibility, and care.
Grounded in person-centered therapy, Alexis tailors her approach to the unique needs of each client. She values a collaborative counseling relationship and works to help clients build resilience, increase self-awareness, and experience lasting positive change. Whether someone is facing trauma, emotional struggles, or a challenging season of life, Alexis aims to provide counseling that is thoughtful, supportive, and growth-oriented.
Originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, Alexis now calls Midlothian home. Outside of counseling, she enjoys spending time with loved ones and her dog, staying active, exploring new places, and appreciating life’s simple joys.
