Sam Lisanti, M.A., Resident in Counseling
Under the supervision of David Hawxhurst, LPC
I hold a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. Several years ago, I felt a calling from God to enter the field of counseling. My coursework and clinical internship have given me both theoretical knowledge and practical insight into the work of counseling. I enjoy working with clients to understand their background, including family of origin, and how it has shaped both who they are and who they hope to become. A person’s natural strengths can be some of their greatest assets in personal development and recovery, and I seek to incorporate my clients’ strengths into their treatment.
I have experience working with a variety of topics including relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and anger. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. When working with clients, I use a combination of different therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. I have completed Level 1 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, exercising, and reading in coffee shops. I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
