Melinda Batalias, Resident in Counseling
Supervised by David Hawxhurst, LPC
Melinda came to counseling after being a high school teacher for 30 years. Melinda graduated from Liberty University in 2023 with her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Melinda completed her internship at Fig Tree Therapy, under the supervision of Tina Motley, and gained knowledge and experience with a variety of clients.
Melinda’s areas of clinical interest include trauma, complex trauma, sexual abuse, relationship issues, codependency, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Melinda employs an eclectic approach to counseling in order to individualize care for clients. Melinda utilizes EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with attachment therapies and parts work. Melinda enjoys facilitating group counseling because it integrates her expertise in the classroom and her passion for helping clients learn and grow.
Melinda combines clinical techniques and faith-centered counseling to help clients grow, gain resilience, and find their path forward. As someone who had to pursue her own healing journey, Melinda recognizes how life-giving these interventions can be.
Away from work, Melinda values spending time with her three adult children and friends. She is active in her church and community and also enjoys basic gardening, strength training, running, and novice hiking.
