Naomi Ley, Master’s level Intern
Supervised by Tina Motley, LCSW
Naomi is currently working on a master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis on mental health at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is fulfilling her practicum and internship at Fig Tree Therapy to get experience and develop her counseling skills and approaches. She has had training in brief and solutions focused therapy. She will be supervised, engaging in ongoing training, and learning additional approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Throughout her years of experience both within and outside of ministry, Naomi has had the privilege of serving as a mentor to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. Having spent a significant portion of her formative years living overseas, Naomi possesses a unique understanding of the challenges that come with adjusting to new environments.
She has walked alongside countless individuals as they navigate the complexities of adapting to unfamiliar cultures, languages, and ways of life. In addition to pursuing her master’s degree, Naomi dedicates her time to coaching, training, and providing support to individuals who are part of mission organizations, guiding them as they fulfill their respective roles and responsibilities within the organization.
Naomi’s deep-seated desire to work within the counseling field is rooted in her genuine love and compassion for people. This love for others has been shaped and strengthened by her unwavering faith and trust in God, which serves as a guiding force in her life.
Through her own personal experiences and observation of the struggles faced by individuals, she remains steadfast in her belief that there is always hope for renewal and growth, even in the face of adversity. Naomi is dedicated to providing support and therapeutic care to those in need, believing that every individual deserves the opportunity to experience this hope and embark on a journey towards healing and wholeness.
Naomi is mother to four children with every life season in progress (college, high school, and early elementary). When time permits, Naomi enjoys working out, going on hikes with her husband, going to the beach with her family, hosting people in her home for meals, and simply chatting about life. She enjoys watching things grow, listening to nature, and creating spaces that are welcoming and enjoyable.
