Brandy Rucker, Resident in Counseling

Supervised by David Hawxhurst, LPC

Brandy’s educational background includes obtaining a Master of Arts in professional counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. Following her retirement from the United States Air Force, Brandy made the decision to pursue her passion for counseling, coaching, and mentoring. Throughout the course of her career, Brandy has gained experience working with a diverse range of clients, including adults, adolescents, couples, and veterans. Her professional experience spans across various settings such as community mental health, intensive in-home, and outpatient therapy.

In her practice, Brandy implements a collaborative approach to therapy, drawing upon modalities such as Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and therapeutic play techniques to address issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, and emotion regulation. She specializes in providing support to women who are grappling with challenges related to self-esteem, insecure attachment, and other related concerns.

One of Brandy’s core values as a counselor is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for her clients to explore and share their life experiences, triumphs, and obstacles. She encourages her clients to focus on their holistic well-being, taking into account the mind, body, and spirit connection in their journey towards healing and growth.

She possesses exceptional leadership skills that enable her to effectively manage a diverse team, always ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and with precision. Additionally, her exceptional organizational abilities allow her to keep track of numerous moving parts and ensure that deadlines are consistently met. It is her dependability and reliability that truly set her apart, as she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every project is completed on time and to the highest standards. Furthermore, her unwavering professionalism in all interactions, whether with clients, colleagues, or superiors, truly exemplifies her dedication to excellence in her role as our Midlothian site coordinator.

When she’s not working, Brandy enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two sons. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, indulging in interior design projects, and savoring a cup of tea. With a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, Brandy finds solace in witnessing the beauty of sunrises and sunsets, often capturing these moments to cherish and reflect upon.

We are delighted Brandy joined our team as a Christian counselor. She is located at our Midlothian office and provides both in person and telehealth counseling.
